This is a truly stunning dress! I would say this is an original 40s or early 50s but to be honest I'm not 100% sure. If it is not, this would be the best reproduction I've seen and it is for sure, made by someone that has the best experience, skills, and knowledge regarding the 40s & 50s fashion. It is tailor-made, that is obvious, the question is, when was it made?
The piece doesn't look modern-made at all, and the cotton has this peculiar old-fabric smell. Please see all the photos in detail. All hems and inner seams are hand-stitched. The collar and sleeves are sewn in a way the seam is not visible. The buckle is covered and hand-sewn. The only things that make me suspect are: the buttons are covered with the same fabric, fine, but they are plastic and made in Paris. I would expect to find metal-type buttons here, not plastic ones. Second, the zipper is metal, but it doesn't look to me like the metal zipper I would expect in a 40s or 50s dress.
I'm quite lost. We bought that dress together with other 40s & 50s pieces (which we are 100% sure are original). The dress doesn't look 80s at all either. As said, if this is not a 40s or 50s original, it is one of the most faithful & quality reproductions I've ever seen. Quality cotton and high-quality work of fashion.
So up to you! I think it is worth the price considering how beautiful and well-made this dress is whether it's original or not. And it looks spectacular!
Matching belt! Though the belt does not appear in all the pictures, it is there! I just forgot to put it when I started with the shooting!
