Stunning late 1940s to early 1950s full skirt, crafted from linen and featuring an exceptional fishing-themed novelty print.
The wonderfully expressive design depicts stylized fishermen at work in small wooden boats, surrounded by large fishing nets with brightly coloured fish caught within them. Rendered in turquoise, cobalt blue, coral pink, mustard yellow, olive green, black and white, its loose hand-drawn lines and bold colours give the print a distinctly Mid-Century Modern, painterly quality. At first glance the design appears almost abstract, revealing its charming fishing scene only on closer inspection.
Beautifully constructed with a wide fitted waistband and generous gathering, creating a wonderfully full silhouette. Finished with its original metal zipper and button closure at the back.
