Charming late 1950s / early 1960s short-sleeved sweater, made in soft Super Hi-Bulk Orlon, in crisp ivory with delicate powder-blue stripes.
The stripes beautifully follow the shaped construction around the shoulders, while the ribbed crew neck, short sleeves and wide fitted waistband create a wonderfully flattering Mid-Century silhouette.
Hi-Bulk Orlon was widely promoted in late-1950s fashion as a soft, lightweight and easy-care alternative to traditional wool knitwear, becoming especially popular for fashionable sweaters during this period.
This sweater is identical to another example in our collection retaining its original 100% Super Hi-Bulk Orlon label. A photograph of that label is included for reference; the label is no longer present on this particular sweater.
