This is a fabulous 1940s French dress by Jersey Madren Paris, made from soft wool jersey in an unusual muted mauve-brown shade.
The beautifully constructed bodice is the focal point of the dress, with a wide asymmetric crossover panel creating a striking sculptural neckline. Delicate gathering beneath the panel shapes the bust and gives the soft wool jersey an elegant draped effect.
Cut with a defined natural waist, padded shoulders, three-quarter sleeves and a long gently flared skirt with inverted front pleats. Subtle gathering at the back waist completes the beautifully balanced 1940s silhouette.
The wool jersey has a soft, fluid handle with the natural flexibility characteristic of knitted wool fabrics, allowing the fitted bodice and draping to sit particularly beautifully on the body.
Finished with its original metal side zipper and original Jersey Madren – Paris label.
