Beautiful original 1950s Hadley cashmere cardigan for Saks Fifth Avenue, crafted from exceptionally soft 100% pure cashmere in a delicate powder pink.
The design is beautifully finished with contrasting textured crochet along the pointed collar, button placket and turned-back cuffs, subtly interwoven with fine gold metallic thread. Unusual rounded triangular mother-of-pearl buttons complete the front — a particularly charming Mid-Century detail.
Hadley was known for its luxurious cashmere knitwear during the 1950s; remarkably, Hadley cashmere sweaters were featured in The New Yorker in November 1956, placing the label firmly within the fashionable American cashmere market of the period.
Finished with an elegantly fitted ribbed waist and long sleeves. A wonderfully feminine and exceptionally well-preserved example of 1950s luxury knitwear.
