This is a wonderful and collectable 1940s wool jacket by JENAX, Garments by Liman of Minneapolis, with all the character we love in American winter sportswear from this period.
JENAX was a label of Liman of Minneapolis, a manufacturer associated with cold-weather and sporting garments during this period. The combination of practical winter construction and decorative embroidery makes this a particularly lovely example of the more playful side of 1940s American sportswear.
Made from a beautifully textured dusty blue wool, it has a wonderfully sculpted silhouette: strong rounded padded shoulders, a closely fitted waist and gently curved seams that give the jacket its unmistakable 1940s shape. Small hand-embroidered flower motifs in shades of rust orange/brown and green are scattered across both the front and back — a particularly charming detail against the soft blue wool.
The jacket closes with its TALON metal front zipper and features knitted wool cuffs for extra warmth. Inside, perhaps our favourite surprise: a beautiful dusty pink satin lining, diamond-quilted throughout.

Condition: Very good vintage condition overall. The wool exterior is beautifully preserved. The satin lining shows some damage and tearing at the underarm area. The knitted cuffs have several old repairs, all located on the inner-facing side of the cuffs — the side that sits towards the jacket — and therefore they are not particularly noticeable when worn. One small repair on the front, where the cut of the zipper is. It does has a couple of small spots/wear, but really not remarkable. Please see detailed photos with yellow arrows.
